Puppies get zoomies as a release of built-up energy, excitement, or stress. These sudden bursts of activity often happen when a puppy is overstimulated or overtired, making it harder for them to control their behaviour.

What Zoomies Actually Are

Zoomies (also called FRAPs) are bursts of energy.

They can be triggered by:

  • Excitement

  • Stress release

  • Overtiredness

When Zoomies Become a Problem

Occasional zoomies are normal.

But if they:

👉 There’s usually something else going on.


The Common Misunderstanding

Many owners think:👉 “My puppy just has too much energy”

So they:

  • Increase exercise

  • Add more stimulation

Which can actually:👉 make the cycle worse

What You Should Be Looking At Instead

Zoomies are often linked to:

  • Arousal levels

  • Lack of calm training

  • Poor structure during the day
